FrescoRecipeImport

FrescoRecipeImport is the fetcher Fresco uses to import a recipe page when a person asks Fresco to save it. It fetches one page at a time, only on a person's request, and never crawls.

Two ways Fresco reads a recipe page

Most imports from the Fresco mobile apps will be fetched by the person's own phone, in a browser they can see, so your page loads and shows its ads as it would for any visitor. That traffic is not a bot and does not use this identity.

FrescoRecipeImport covers the rest: imports from our websites, our partner API and older app versions, which have no browser of their own to fetch with. Only that server-side traffic identifies itself as described below.

How to recognise it

What it fetches

For each import: the page the person asked for, plus your robots.txt. If the page redirects, each hop costs one more page fetch, and one more robots.txt fetch when it moves to another site. Importing a video can follow the recipe links in its description, one page each.

We read the page's own schema.org/Recipe data: name, ingredients, method, times, yield, and the image address. We store the image address and link back to your page; we do not download or re-host the image.

Content use: reference. We index and excerpt the recipe for the person who asked for it and link back to your page; we do not reproduce the page.

robots.txt

FrescoRecipeImport obeys the FrescoRecipeImport group in your robots.txt, or the * group when there is none, following RFC 9309.
